So, here's the challenge:
Spend as much time as possible doing family history work. Options include temple work, personal geneology, and indexing on the family history website.
The competition will start 26 December at 12am and end 5 February at 11:59pm. All participants must update their minutes at least weekly (so everyone should have at least one update by 1 January, and everyone will have at least 6 posts by end of the competition). Make sure you put "Banana #2" and your name in the title of the post.
Prizes will be awarded to the top three. The choices are pictured above, except for the Nike +. First place gets first choice, second place gets second choice, and third place gets what's left! I know the decorations will no longer be appropriate for the season, but you can save them for next year. :)
Any comments or suggestions?
Since our family is all over the world, I decided this would be a good way to keep the competitive spirit alive :). In honor of our original DOGGiN 5K I thought it only proper to have each competition be a 'banana'. Let the fun begin!

I've got 2 ideas...
Since the last competition was physical, we could alternate and do something not physical. How about
most minutes spent indexing on the family history website (over a 2-week? period)
OR
First one to 100 pedestrian miles or 1,000 minutes of exercise.
Any thoughts???
Winner can have their choice of a Nike+ for Ipod Nano (still in the box), or something cute I make at our ward's Super Saturday on October 30th.

I saw Elise's post and seriously considered jogging around our block for the next hour and a half. But, I decided the payback I'd get tomorrow just would not be worth it. I'm no good at being tired anymore, must be getting old or something. Way to go Elise! I'm impressed that you found the time for all of that I think I might take the "Most Pedestrian Miles". I'll find out tomorrow, I'm not waiting up to see what Robin posts this week.
Blast!!! I just saw Mom's ammendment to the rules again that allowed all forms of exercise to be included. I've missed out on counting over 2 hours of DVD workouts every week! I counted what I've done since last Tuesday. (3 30+ minute circuits with weights, 2 miles each; 1 Burn Intervals (half intense cardio/half 'easy' resistance) 45 minutes, 4.5 miles; 1 Ab workout 10 minutes, 0.5 miles = 11 miles from DVDs). Oh well, if Mom's ammendment was not actually made law, then I only have 139.71 for my final total. Maybe a push-ups challenge next? just kidding, I still do most of my push-ups on my knees. But, I really like ChaLEAN extreme, even better than p90x!
Or maybe a "most exercise miles in front of 'Psych'" challenge? (If we ever find a decent bike on Craigslist.) Maybe we could allow exercise miles completed in front of other TV or movies, maybe. ;)
Congratulations Elise! (assuming Robin hasn't done some crazy miles), you earned it. :)

At least it's something.....
July 22: 2 miles
July 23: 55 minute body attack class
I'm thinking that that ridiculous heat, humidity, and gnats should double my mileage ;-)

banana#1 - Scott (road to mediocrity)
... just to give everyone a quicks head ups. Since Lani and I are running all our miles above 6700ft mean sea level, we're going to go ahead and add an extra mile or so for every mile we run. Put that in your proverbial pipe and smoke it :-).

Banana#1 Fred
It's ok Trish I feel your pain. Erin never said it would be easy but that it would be worth it.
Banana#1 - Scott {reigning DOGGiN Champ}
I'm in. Only I usually don't keep track of my miles. I'll just take my total time and divide it by four. That won't be perfect but I thought I might take it easy on the rest of you because, as the first and only person in the Universe to ever win a DOGGiN' it Banana Run, that's the kind of guy I am.

Okay- after some 'clarifying what qualifies' questions and considering our many different exercise tactics, maybe we should extend 'scouts honor' to accepting and inputting any exercise choice into mile equivalents (or in Guillaume's case, kilometer equivalents- we'll have Bren monitor and recompute that!). We do have a few less than enthusiastic runners who do other activities for their exercise. The upside is that we can all laugh hysterically when Michelle tries to convert standing and turn a stop/slow paddle into running miles.
Bananas #1 (Tricia and Kyle)
As pretty much the only non-runners in the family, Kyle and I will be counting basketball and moving chairs for EFY this summer instead of actual miles....ideas on conversions between chairs put up/down and miles are welcome ;-)

Banana #1 Rules
This is going to be a 'nike challenge' minus the 'nike' part of it since I know all of you don't have a nano and running chip or the wrist band. I have sent everyone in the family an invite to join this blog as an author. So how is it going to work? Read on...
Goal:
Run the most miles between Monday July 12th and Tuesday August 17th (inclusive).
Miles Ran Equivalents:
Elliptical - Jog pace (assuming you are working at your jog pace)
Swim - 1 mile swam = 4 miles ran
Bike - 3 miles biked = 1 mile ran
Rules:
- Each family member competes individually
- No wearing pedometer all day to bump up the miles, BUT if you do choose to walk/bike as a mode of transportation that DOES count
- We're going on scouts honor
- Post updates must been done at least once a week (if you fail to update with your current miles and more than a week elapses since you ran the miles you may no longer count the miles)
Entry:
I have sent invites to all family members to join this blogs as an author. If you intend to participate (and you should), create a post called Banana #1 ____ and fill in the blank with your name. When you run miles you will need to update your original post with your additional miles...in other words you are in charge of keeping the running total. Your post MUST be created prior to the first day of the banana (July 12th).
Prize:
So what are we competing for? Well, since I currently live in a very cool place, I figured it only fitting to do something I think is really cool:
I will be delivering the set to you at Dana's wedding (assuming I actually make it there).
Questions? Shoot me an email or leave a comment on this post if you have any question.
